About my palette......

I'm jumping up and down with excitement right now, because in two days I'm heading overseas to paint the beautiful French Riviera. (I should probably stop jumping and start packing....)
The first week is painting just for fun at an artist retreat I got invited to, the second week is an artist retreat I'm hosting with my good friend Eli Cedrone. Occasionally people ask me if I switch up my palette depending on where I travel. The answer is "no". I work with a base palette of split primaries, which means I have a warm and a cool version of the primary colors red, yellow, and blue. And I have a couple of other colors that have earned a permanent spot on my palette. With those colors, I have many options to mix anything I want. Many colors that look so incredibly delicious in the art supply store I can mix myself with the palette I'm using. But occasionally I throw in a fun color I'm experimenting with, so I think I might bring turquoise to the Côte D'Azur, I'm sure it'll come in handy. I mean, have you seen the color of the water there???
